Even though inactivation of yebC2EF had no discernible impact on the physiology or virulence of E. faecalis, this may be due to functional redundancy with other translation factors such as EF-P (translation elongation factor P, EF0287) and YfmR (ABCF ATPase YfmR/Uup, EF1575). As in the related microorganisms Bacillus subtilis and Streptococcus pyogenes, these factors can compensate for the loss of YebC2.
This study reports the first case of bloodstream infection caused by P. soli confirmed by whole-genome sequencing. PS1 harbored multiple virulence‑related genetic modules and exhibited corresponding pathogenic phenotypes. These findings support that P. soli may have opportunistic pathogenic potential.
Data unveiled at this year's ASCO Annual meeting show that GRAIL's Galleri multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test failed to reduce stage III and IV cancers in the landmark NHS-Galleri trial, although there was an improvement in stage IV alone. Experts say the findings fall short of demonstrating a large enough clinical benefit for MCED testing that would warrant Galleri's implementation.
Analysis of these new data showed that the primary endpoint of the trial, aiming to reduce the incidence of stage III-IV cancer by at least 20 %, was missed. The trial is still ongoing.

Most patients with a cancer signal detected on a MCED test were true positives with a cancer consistent with the CSO reported. Patients had their MCED test results quickly adjudicated when presenting to a dedicated clinical program supporting a role for cancer diagnostic expertise in evaluating MCED tests.

Clinical utility of MCD testing for symptomatic patients in the United Kingdom varies substantially across referral pathways but is favorable for gynecologic and GI cancers. Future pathway-specific optimization of MCD tests must consider clinical utility explicitly and does not require retraining the underlying machine learning classifiers.
The MCED test correctly predicted the CSO in 87% of cases with a reported cancer type, consistent with previous clinical studies. CSO enabled efficient workup in most patients, with a median 39.5 days from result receipt to cancer diagnosis.
